Arizonans for Children

The University of Phoenix has some VERY creative staff!  For the second year they have shared the pumpkins they decorated with Arizonans for Children and the Phoenix Visitation Center has been transformed into a magically festive space! Wow!  These are incredible and the families on site are going to love discovering all the creations! Thank you, thank you, thank you University of Phoenix! Extra shout out to the Arizonans for Children staff and volunteers that picked up the pumpkins and brought them to the visitation center!  Your willingness to help is inspiring and greatly appreciated!!

Starting this Wednesday 10/24 the families having visits at the Arizonans for Children Phoenix Visitation Center will get to choose a costume to wear and trick-or-treat staff offices. Visitation Center Volunteer Myra came for her shift yesterday with treats! Long time volunteer and supporter of Arizonans for Children Mike donated 2 absolutely adorable skunk costumes!  I had to see what they looked like on so one little one got to be a skunk yesterday - she LOVED it and so did I.   Get ready for cuteness overload as we start sharing trick-or-treat pictures this week! www.arizonansforchildren.org

All of us at Arizonans for Children were absolutely devastated to learn of the death of  "The Cutest Monkey EVER!" The Parent Aid that supervised visits between this baby and his mother and siblings came to me asking if we could hang his picture at our center.  We have it up and will keep it there forever as he is forever in our hearts. We hear news stories of kids being abused and neglected, we see those children.  I cannot imagine having the job or the decisions that go along with it.  Arizonans for Children cannot control what happens before and after time at our Visitation Centers but what we can do is ensure the time the families spend with us is as wonderful as possible. In the words of this Parent Aid " his time spent at the center were happier times in his short life." We are going to have our Arizonans for Children Costume Closet in honor of this life lost far too soon.  The centers will be filled with pirates and princesses, skunks and skele...

Arizonans for Children was so excited to have AZ Ballroom Dance Academy on site at the Phoenix Visitation Center Friday September 28, 2018!   There were 28 kids in foster care that attend and they learned a variety of dance steps such as the cha cha, merengue and more!  They laughed, they learned, they danced and they got to be a kid. Anytime we can allow these kids to experience the things kids not in the system get to is a great day.  Some of the kids were hesitant at the beginning but by mid point of the workshop they were all up and enjoying themselves. The kids were loading into the vans taking them back to their group homes and there were several questions asked as to when they could come back. Dance is fun, dance is exciting, dance is healing. I saw this image and post on Facebook and thought "this would be something wonderful to do at the Arizonans for Children Visitation Centers!" I am going to pick up 2 pumpkins this week - one for each Visitation Center. As the pumpkins fill with words of gratitude we can use them as center pieces at the dining room tables.
