Forever In Our Hearts - our "Cutest Monkey EVER!"


All of us at Arizonans for Children were absolutely devastated to learn of the death of  "The Cutest Monkey EVER!"

The Parent Aid that supervised visits between this baby and his mother and siblings came to me asking if we could hang his picture at our center.  We have it up and will keep it there forever as he is forever in our hearts.

We hear news stories of kids being abused and neglected, we see those children.  I cannot imagine having the job or the decisions that go along with it.  Arizonans for Children cannot control what happens before and after time at our Visitation Centers but what we can do is ensure the time the families spend with us is as wonderful as possible.

In the words of this Parent Aid "his time spent at the center were happier times in his short life."

 We are going to have our Arizonans for Children Costume Closet in honor of this life lost far too soon.  The centers will be filled with pirates and princesses, skunks and skeletons, Batman and bumble bees.
Let's make this the best Halloween ever in honor of the cutest monkey EVER!

It would be easy to focus on the system and casting blame but I hope that in this babies honor we can channel that into making a magically fun event that will create a lifetime of memories.  Together we can ensure that every child that comes through the Arizonans for Children Visitation Center doors has happy times and leave with wonderful memories.

Father's Day Arizonans for Children Visitation Centers celebrate every holiday with the families on site.  This week we honored the fathers.  Dads that are trying to reunify and make sure their children are part of their lives. We see dads brushing doll hair, down on the floor encouraging their little ones to take the first steps, reading stories, enjoying meals together, laughing, playing and creating memories that will last a lifetime-memories that heal. " In the last hour of this duo's visit, I over heard them sigh when they didn't see chocolate cake as an option. I let them know I'm sure we had some and brought out a fresh cake for them. What a weekend at Arizonans for Children! Technology, technology and more technology!

What a weekend at Arizonans for Children!  Technology, technology and more technology! We were very fortunate to be part of AZ Give Camp's Hack-a-Thon where teams of developers volunteer their time and expertise to engineer solutions for non-profits.  The hack-a-thon started Friday afternoon at 3:00pm and went all the way until Sunday at 4:00pm! Thanks to my new best friend Chris Huie, Arizonans for Children participated in this fantastic opportunity.  Our team Tomas, Mandy and Cindy listened to our agency needs, tossed ideas around and came up with the perfect solution.  This team developed an electronic check-in system that will offer faster check in and out times that will translate into more quality time spent on a visit for the families using the centers. This new system also tracks the data creating seamless reports while respecting and protecting the confidentiality of our clients.  All of this was done with the knowledge that cost  is always a factor in non-pro
