Arizonans for Children Annual Holiday Party for Kids in Foster Care
For years Arizonans for Children has held an annual holiday party for children in foster care, often times this party is the only holiday type event these kids get to experience.
Think about this.....for most of the kids this party signifies another year in "the system" so we work to make it the most memorable time they can have.
Every child and caregiver that come to the party will have a full holiday meal of turkey, mashed potatoes & gravy, stuffing and more!
After eating the kids move to the gym where there is a DJ, Santa, Star Wars characters, dancing, games and most importantly sibling visits. There are sibling groups that are placed in different foster and group homes that get to see each other and have the holiday together at this party.
All of the kids that come to this party get a bag of gifts! Every bag has a made blanket, a book and a stuffed animal along with 3-5 really fantastic gifts that are all individually wrapped. With this being the only holiday event the kids will get we strive to make is magically wonderful.

All the fun and memories would not be possible without support from our community. There are many ways to get involved and help make these children have the holiday of the lives!
Would you be willing to hold a toy donation drive? Here is a list of gift suggestions:
We are planning a Golf Tournament Toy Drive with The Arizona Grand Resort for 12/2 - Save the Date and watch for details to follow.
On November 17th at 2:00 Community Partner Healthy Mason Jar will be on site at the Arizonans for Children Mesa Visitation Center for a Toy Drive Event! Come buy a wonderful meal, bring a toy and learn more about volunteer opportunities with kids in foster care! We will have craft activities as well. An afternoon of fun for the whole family while making a difference in the lives of children in foster care.
Both of the Arizonans for Children Visitation Centers will be decorated festively with activities, traditions and gifts to share with the families having visits. This allows families to create happy memories that help heal what ever trauma brought the children into the foster care system.
Would you like to share your families favorite holiday traditions? Decorate sugar cookies, build gingerbread houses, sing carols, make paper snowflakes, read stories.....Together we can create a holiday wonderland!
What do you get when you combine kids in foster care, goats and yoga? A wonderfully good time! Super BIG Thanks to Lil Goat Town for introducing the children we serve to your goats and yoga. The sunset was stunning, the goats hilarious and the laughter heart warming. This has to have been one of my very favorite events EVER! 🐏🐐🌵💓🧘♀️🧘♂️
The calming serenity of yoga coupled with the hilarity of the goats and the sunset on the beach sand, tiki torches surrounding the area - this was an evening the kids (and a staff, a board member and all the mentors) will never forget. There are times when I've talked to the kids in foster care as we interview them to match them with a volunteer Mentor when the kids cannot remember the last time they laughed. Thanks to Lil Goat Tow
What a weekend at Arizonans for Children! Technology, technology and more technology!
We were very fortunate to be part of AZ Give Camp's Hack-a-Thon where teams of developers volunteer their time and expertise to engineer solutions for non-profits. The hack-a-thon started Friday afternoon at 3:00pm and went all the way until Sunday at 4:00pm!
Thanks to my new best friend Chris Huie, Arizonans for Children participated in this fantastic opportunity. Our team Tomas, Mandy and Cindy listened to our agency needs, tossed ideas around and came up with the perfect solution. This team developed an electronic check-in system that will offer faster check in and out times that will translate into more quality time spent on a visit for the families using the centers. This new system also tracks the data creating seamless reports while respecting and protecting the confidentiality of our clients. All of this was done with the knowledge that cost is always a factor in non-profits and th…
As our current Visitation Center Coordinator makes plans for grad school we are actively accepting resume's for the position. We wish Paige the very best and thank her for her positive attitude and commitment to helping families heal.
The Visitation Center Coordinator is a vital position at Arizonans for Children and has to be filled with the right person. We are a small staff so we need someone who is a team player, willing to help as needed and a problem solver. Someone that identifies an issue and instead of focusing on what is wrong, finds a solution to make it right.
This is not a typical Monday - Friday position so flexibility is crucial.
The right person will be able to lead a team of volunteers, focus on their strengths and motivate the team to be welcoming and nonjudgmental with everyone utilizing the visitation centers.
If you are interested in this position please send a cover letter and resume to: firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line as "Visitatio…
