Just About Ready for Trick-or-Treat!



We are just about ready for the families to dress up in costumes and trick-or-treat at the Arizonans for Children Phoenix Visitation Center!

We have some pretty amazing treats to pass out!  MCSO delivered boxes and boxes of books today and the kids will be able to choose a book as a treat!

Wear Me Pro dropped off 3,000 pairs of sunglasses!  The kids are going to LOVE these treats!




We have reusable water bottles, stuffed animals, super hero capes, goodie bags from Rachel P. and fidget spinners to pass out as well!







And of course we have candy thanks to Maya!




Charlotte G. shopped from the Arizonans for Children Amazon Smile Wish List and we got a book perfect to read for our STAR (Story Time and Reading) program. The kids are going to LOVE Ten Timid Ghosts!

Weekend mentoring fun!!!

I asked my mentees last week if they wanted to go peach picking on Sunday with my wife and I, one of our annual traditions we try to do every year. I let them know that we would have to pick them up early that morning to get a head start on the hot weather. They agreed. Spontaneously I decided to go fishing Friday evening. I called the group home and asked if the home had any plans/activities and if my 2 mentees wanted to go with me. They both were eager to get out of the house for a few hours on a Friday night to go fishing. We tried canal “A” and after a while gave up on it and tried the other side of the overpass on canal “A”. We managed to get a few bites, which was exciting for the boys, even though there were no significant tugs on the line. We then decided to try this other canal spot I recently caught a few at. Never Give Up...an important message for those in the foster care system!

For families experiencing time in the foster care system it can be difficult to not give up.  Life lessons and gentle reminders are vital to the families we serve as well as the children in our Mentor program. Never Give Up Hello Kids!! Today I’m going to share a story about the thirsty crow. Once upon a time, a beautiful black crow named Jack lived in the great Sahara Desert. As we know, water in the desert is always hard to find. But our little friend Jack found a small pond beside a palm tree, where he lived, and drank water from it, whenever he felt thirsty. One day, all the water from the pond got over and Jack was left with no water to drink. Jack thought that the pond would fill itself again and he waited. A Weekend of Arizonans for Children - Easter!

Spring was in the air last weekend at Arizonans for Children!  We had egg hunts at both Visitation Centers so that the families on site can create happy memories and share the Easter experience. From Visitation Center Coordinator Paige " I wish I was able to record the little boy who cams running outside yelling “EEEGGGGGSSSS” 🥚  Little kids, big kids, only blue egg loving kids - the Easter Egg Hunt at our Mesa Visitation Center was a huge success! No one left without a smile on their face today  🐰 Holidays are another milestone of time spent in the foster care system.  Thanks to our community and their generosity we can help make them memorable and fun.
