Painting Party for Kids in Foster Care

Arizonans for Children Tutor/Mentor Outreach Coordinator Monique wanted to hold an event for kids in foster care and their Mentors where the children could paint something fun while creating a bond with their Mentor.

In Monique's words:

Recently, I hosted a painting party for mentors and mentees. These kids were so creative - it was a blast to watch them come up with their own ice cream flavors and topping designs. After all the hard work, they even enjoyed their very own REAL ice cream cones! This was one of my favorites events of all time "

The role of our Tutor/Mentor Outreach Coordinator is to match volunteers from the community with school age children in foster care as their Mentor.  Knowing that the Mentor/mentee relationship will strengthen when both are engaged in activities, providing the time, space and activities for this bond to develop more shows Monique's commitment to these kids.  

Monique is hoping to hold another Painting Party before Halloween.  If you would like to help make this program a continued success there will be an ongoing need for paint.  We have added the paints to the Arizonans for Children Amazon Wish List

Every interaction, every activity, every time we spend with a child in foster care allows them to hope, to believe, to dream, to succeed.  Arizonans for Children Volunteers show the kids that someone cares about them.  Our Mentor program builds trust and allows the children to believe they are worthy.  When we have staff like Monique that continually go above and beyond for the children we serve...well that is truly magical and life transforming.

Becoming a Mentor for Arizonans for Children starts with someone who wants to make a difference filling out a volunteer application.
