Disinfecting Supplies, Team Building Opportunity and Eagle Project


Arizonans for Children has two visitation centers where kids in foster care come to spend time with their parents and siblings as the family works towards reunification.
Our centers have deep comfy sofa's, dining areas and lots of toys and games.  They are warm, vibrant spaces that allow for bonding in a supervised environment.

With the number of families on site we take disinfecting and sanitizing very seriously as this is an already vulnerable population.
One of our volunteer opportunities is a "Clean and Sanitize" project of either of our centers.  Volunteers from our community come to the center and literally disinfect and sanitize all public spaces as well as the sofas and toys.  We were very lucky this week to have a group of men come to the Phoenix center and do an incredible job of cleaning and sanitizing that center!


With the amount of cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting we do at both centers we can always use donations of supplies.  Next time you are at the store considering picking up a bottle of vinegar or a roll of paper towels or if you are willing to hold a donation drive for supplies that would be a wonderful benefit to the families we serve!

Our Deep Clean and Sanitize project is a wonderful Eagle Scout Project.  Scouts collect all the necessary supplies and recruit volunteers.  This is a true leadership project that benefits so many kids and families in foster care.  Contact Laura to coordinate an Eagle Project - az4children.laura@gmail.com

Arizonans for Children Phoenix Visitation Center is located at 1112 W. Camelback Rd, Phoenix AZ 85013 and is open Monday - Friday 9-6 and Saturdays 10-2.

Arizonans for Children Mesa Visitation Center is located at 1020 N. Horne, Mesa AZ 85203 (housed in Desert Heritage Church) and is open Monday - Friday 10-6 and Saturdays 10-2.

Weekend mentoring fun!!!

I asked my mentees last week if they wanted to go peach picking on Sunday with my wife and I, one of our annual traditions we try to do every year. I let them know that we would have to pick them up early that morning to get a head start on the hot weather. They agreed. Spontaneously I decided to go fishing Friday evening. I called the group home and asked if the home had any plans/activities and if my 2 mentees wanted to go with me. They both were eager to get out of the house for a few hours on a Friday night to go fishing. We tried canal “A” and after a while gave up on it and tried the other side of the overpass on canal “A”. We managed to get a few bites, which was exciting for the boys, even though there were no significant tugs on the line. We then decided to try this other canal spot I recently caught a few at. They managed to get a few more hits and then we finished the night with not one of us landing a catfish. Kind of a let down…I’ve been wanting...

Thank you Paul with PEM!

The Arizonans for Children STEM Pi-oneers class was lucky to have Paul with PEM attend and talk with the kids, kids in foster care last week.  Paul sat right with the kids and talked to them and listened to them offering valuable life lessons. The kids in class are good kids in a bad situation.  They did not chose to be in foster care.  They have been bounced around from placement to placement, school to school, family to group home.   To have someone to listen to them, actually hear what they have to say was powerful and healing.  It gave the kids a sense of value-that what they had to say and could contribute was important.   Within 15 minutes of the class ended I had calls asking when Paul would be back next.  That is pretty telling of the impact his conversation had.   Thank you Paul for being there and listening to these kids and sharing your knowledge and experience.   There is always a way to make a diff...
